Biographical Information

BUDDY CARTER, a Representative from Georgia; born in Port Wentworth, Chatham County, Ga., September 6, 1957; graduated from Robert W. Groves High School, Garden City, Ga., 1975; A.A., Young Harris College, Young Harris, Ga., 1977; B.S., University of Georgia, Athens, Ga., 1980; pharmacist; business owner; member of the Pooler, Ga., city council, 1994-1995; mayor of Pooler, Ga., 1996-2004; member of the Georgia state house of representatives, 2005-2009; member of the Georgia state senate, 2009-2014; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourteenth Congress (January 6, 2015-present). He won the seat vacated by Jack Kingston, who ran for United States Senate and lost in the Republican primary; Carter was reelected in 2016 and to each succeeding Congress.
